Autumn is here and so are the autumn CALs, and I already have such a queue that I’ll soon be known as the “crazy blanket lady” among friends and family. But oh dearest, which one of these projects could I leave behind?
The first one I’ve joined is already active, the Stars In Bloom Cal, by Katia. It’s a 7-week project, from September 15 to October 27.
I’ve chosen the pastel tones version and the colors are delicious. The design is GORGEOUS. The Katia yarns have an outstanding quality, it’s my favorite thing about their projects. This time we are using the acrylic Katia The Basic with a 5mm hook.

Week 1

The organization, however, is a bit chaotic. The patterns are published in 6 different languages (Spanish, English, French, German, Dutch and Italian), and they have a FB group where everybody writes in their own language. I understand not everybody speaks English (or want to), but in the end it’s just messy, and questions are being asked and answered again and again. And then there is just one post for the current week’s progress, and you can only use that one post.
The second CAL I’ll be joining is the Perfect Picnic CAL by Scheepjes. This one is a 9-week project, from October 14 to December 9.

I’ve chosen the Picnic On The Mountain kit, with the acrylic Colour Crafter, which I already used in my first Scheepjes CAL. (For the second one I chose the Cotton Create version, which I didn’t really enjoy).
I’m really looking forward working this design because it is beautiful and has interesting techniques. Plus the Scheepjes team and FB group are amazing, with many moderators doing a fantastic job. Scheepjes keeps a Duch group and an international group where people can only use English, and that keeps everything cohesive and really fun and helpful.
Initially there was sort of a controversy with people using AI generated blanket pictures with alternative color schemes, lots of AI generated pictures of blankets that did not exist. (Baffled me, honestly, but that will go into another entry here). Fortunately the team put an end to the foolishness and banned the use of AI pictures.
And the third CAL will be the Harry Potter one, hosted by DMC, a 6-week project from November 4 to December 9. The design is still a secret and the kit is on pre-sale, and it will include a Harry Potter themed hook and stitch markers.

So this is my schedule so far:
